In Tasmania, the Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) is responsible for controlling the access to and impact upon World Heritage Areas, National Parks and reserves. They determine whether or not cruise ships have approval to access certain anchorages. A number of sites require PWS approval for onshore visits.
